Unauthorized Recording Devices and Wearable Technology

To protect the privacy, confidentiality, safety, and educational environment of Future Professionals, guests, employees, and School operations, the School regulates the use of recording devices and recording-enabled technology within all School facilities and during School-sponsored activities.

Prohibited Recording Devices

  The following devices are prohibited from being brought into, possessed, worn, or used anywhere within the School or during any School-sponsored activity:

  • Recording-enabled or camera-equipped smart glasses or other wearable recording technology (including Meta Smart Glasses or similar devices);
  • Hidden or concealed cameras;
  • Body-worn cameras;
  • Wearable devices designed or capable of recording audio or video;
  • Any equipment designed or intended to secretly, discreetly, or surreptitiously capture, transmit, monitor, or record images, audio, video, or other electronic data.

Recording-enabled wearable technology may not be worn, activated, or used anywhere within the School, regardless of whether its recording or transmission functions are enabled.

Personal Electronic Devices

The possession and general use of personal electronic devices, including cellular telephones, tablets, and laptops, is governed by applicable School policies.

Except as permitted by this policy, no person may use a personal electronic device to photograph, audio record, video record, livestream, monitor, or otherwise capture or transmit images or recordings of any Future Professional, guest, employee, visitor, classroom activity, clinic activity, guest service, consultation, educational record, or other School operation without first obtaining the express consent of each individual being recorded.

Recording is prohibited in any location where individuals have a reasonable expectation of privacy, including restrooms, locker or changing areas, private offices, disciplinary meetings, financial aid meetings, or any other confidential School meeting or activity, regardless of whether consent has been obtained.

Any individual may decline to be photographed or recorded. If consent is denied or withdrawn, all photography, recording, livestreaming, or monitoring must immediately cease.

Nothing in this policy authorizes the use or possession of recording-enabled wearable technology or other prohibited devices identified above.

Enforcement

Failure to comply with this policy, refusal to remove or secure a prohibited device upon request, unauthorized recording or monitoring, failure to cease recording after consent has been denied or withdrawn, or the unauthorized capture, transmission, possession, or distribution of photographs, audio recordings, video recordings, livestreams, or other electronic recordings may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or termination of enrollment or employment. Violations may also be referred to law enforcement when appropriate and as permitted by applicable law.
